QSA (2) Talana, Defence of Ladysmith (20561 Gnr. E. Driver. 67th. Bty., R.F.A.) recipient’s first initial obliterated, edge bruising and traces of acid cleaning

R. E. Driver attested for the Royal Field Artillery and served with the 67th Battery in South Africa during the Boer War.

He died of dysentery at Ladysmith on 1 March 1900.

There is a term the antique trade like to use, country house condition, but, very nice to see, I wonder what was going through the recipients mind on that awful day at Dundee, just one year earlier he had been a grocer, life would have become rather more challenging and less certain.
