Today I broke my duck and finally added a RofM to the collection, now all I need is a DofM to complete the clasps.

My lastest acquisition was from the Wakefield medal fair this morning.

504 Trooper George Stanley Blurton 1st Squadron Rhodesia Regt.
Trooper Blurton was killed in action at Klip Drift on 20th August 1900

Any comments welcome
Paul :)

Hello Paul,
Well, there are far less enjoyable ways to spend hard earned money these days, I would take a look at both the press of the day and WO126/115-116 next if I were you, he was not discharged, but, his original attestation might have survived, interestingly, I note that he was "reduced" from his rank of sergeant.
When I originally collected the clasps, you could go out and buy a Defence for £450 or so, but, a good Relief was always harder to find, you have done the right thing today, so put the cost behind you and move forward now.
Kind regards Frank

A little research:
George Stanley Blurton is listed on the BMD index for January 1871
The registration district is Portsea Island Hampshire England
He was Christened on 9th February 1871 at saint Thomas Portsmouth, Hampshire,England.
The outward passenger lists 1890-1960 show him as sailing to The Cape on 27th February 1897 on the ship Mexican, the ships master is R.Reynolds.
The voyage is quoted as 65 days.
George is listed as 28 (so he is not too sure of his age!)his profession is Engineer, he is travelling with a Mr.R.Blurton aged 26 also an Engineer.

Paul,
That really must be him, the name is most unusual, moreover, A Squadron too, the best of them and really quite scarce anyway.
I like it, money well spent! :)
