Now that is interesting! Thanks Adrian. I remember there being quite a bit of a debate on it when it came up for sale.

Is it possible to do metal detecting in the Matjiesfontein area - would I have to get permission or who would be a good contact person.

This would be a bucket list project and finds would be donated to the Matjiesfontein museum.

The Laingsburg Local Municipality covers Laingsburg and Matjiesfontein.

Anyone noticed this marking south of the N1 and west of the road into Matjiesfontein? Could it be a regiment insignia?
