L.Schreiber was an interesting chap. Colin Walker's Mafeking Siege Register shows he served in Section A of the TG and was a clerk in Col. Green's office. The Siege Register shows him as a Resident Member of Mafeking Freemasons and organist at their meetings. He was attached to the staff of the Chief Paymaster as local auditor on 15 shillings a day. Later he switched duties and became examiner of books. Schrieber was on the committee for B-P presentation. I am not sure what that means.
A good example of the local talent present in Mafeking during the siege.

That is very interesting and 15s a day doesn't sound too bad, being three times the rate for a Colonial soldier.

Yes, I think we would all like to be able to photograph like this but it would be great one day to be able to see the naming too.

DNW sold this QSA last week for a hammer price of GBP 1700.

QSA (1) Defence of Mafeking (St.-Serjt: W. Storey. Mafeking Town Gd:)

W. Storey served with the Railway Division Staff at the Defence of Mafeking.
