Terracotta medal depicting “Bust of a Lady in high relief”
Ref: Laidlaw 0829d.
Red Terracotta. 94 mm diam., 64 x 67 mm, 89.80 grams.
ARTIST: Avelino Antonio Soares Bello.

This medal is presumably a presentation piece issued in honour of the ladies who raised funds for the Boer Internees. The medal includes a reverse stamp listing the names of the P.o.W. camps at which the Boer Prisoners were held.

General Cronye “Dem Besten Schützen” EF 300 – 600

White metal. Fitted with loop. Minor corrosion. 27.36 mm diam., 6.43 g.

Presumably a shooting medal.

Pieter Arnoldus Cronjé (1836 – 1911) was a Boer General. He was defeated at the Battle of Paardeberg on 27 February 1900. He spent the remainder of the war as a P.o.W. on St. Helena.
