I have collected medals to the 9th, 11th, 66th, 109th and 111th companies, 3rd IY, and the old 66th Coy, 16th IY for some years now, partly because I find the Yorkshire Tribute medal to be one of the finer tributes and also reunites are fairly frequent. I will post some of my QSA YT groups which I hope forumites will enjoy.

I have no details of his service in WW1 with the ASC other than this postcard sent home to Mrs Ash in December 1915 endorsed by hand "Somewhere in France".

There are variations in the spelling of Biscombe/Biscombe and initials J C/J E on the medals and rolls and papers. The 1914/15 star is possibly an early official replacement medal (no serial no).

QSA: CC, OFS. 12329 Pte T A Smith 66th Coy Imperial Yeomanry
KSA: SA01 SA02 12329 Pte T A Smith Imperial Yeomanry
Yorkshire Tribute Medal (type 3) with 66th Company reverse for South Africa 1900-1901.

Tom Andrew Smith was born in Masbrough, Rotherham, Yorkshire. A Shop Assistant by occupation, he attested for short service with the Imperial Yeomanry at Doncaster on 19 February 1900, aged 22 years. He served in South Africa from March 1900 with the 66th (Yorkshire) Company, 16th Battalion Imperial Yeomanry. He was invalided home in July 1900 but returned to South Africa in January 1901 where he remained until after the cessation of hostilities. He was suffering from enteric fever in South Africa during January 1903 and by May 1903 was convalescing at Netley, being discharged ‘fit’ in June.
Very unusual to find a KSA to the old 66th but confirmed on roll.

Another puzzle is the presence of another Private Smith with the same service number but different initial on the roll of the Provisional Transvaal Constabulary showing service with the unit from 1st October 1900 until 3rd January 1901.
