Ardale
Thanks for posting those pics. Have you had a look at Pearce's "History of Lumsden's Horse" in the books section of this site? Many references to Sgt. Dale in that text.
Regards
IL.

QSA (3) Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Cape Colony (142 Trooper R. J. Innes. Lumsden’s Horse), engraved, note error to second initial;
British War and Victory Medals (Lieut. R.J. Innes);
Volunteer Long Service VR (Trooper J. Innes, Surma Valley Lt. Horse), engraved.

Richard Tait Innes, a Tea Planter from Cachar, India, served during the Boer War with Lumsden’s Horse, and is confirmed on the medal roll, having seen prior service with the Surma Valley Light Horse in India. He is listed as having been ‘in hospital’ during the campaign, apparently owing to sickness, although no direct cause is given (as listed in ‘The History of Lumsden’s Horse’ by Pearse).

During the Great War, he served in Mesopotamia and on the NW Frontier – apparently on attachment with the 1st/9th Gurkha Rifles – and later as a Captain with the Indian Army Reserve of Officers (Cavalry). He is recorded as having died in Calcutta.

Hi David, really nice to see these medals. I am still after seeing the ones that belonged to my relative Elliot Llewhellin. Interesting when I look at the photo of the Lumsden Horse that I posted previously RJ Innes doesnt appear, but there is a L Innes (brother perhaps). I also came across these photos of the Lumsden Horse which I thought were interesting
