Hi all
I am researching one of my other relatives (Great Uncle) George Elliot Llewhellin, who served with the Lumsden Horse, having been part of the Bihar Light Horse. I have a photo of the troop about to depart for South Africa which I havent seen featured before, so will look to post a copy on this forum
I am no expert on medals, but would love to know what might have happened to his and ideally source a picture. He died on 20 Sep 1940 with a wife, but no children, so I assume they were sold off. Is there any way to track down what might have happened to them?
Many thanks
Nick

I can't assist regarding your GU's medals - but the History of Lumsden's Horse (Pearse) shows him (Cpl. George Elliott Pollnitz Llewhellin) as a member of No.2 section, A Company of LH. He was an Indigo planter, Burhoga concern, Saran. There are a number of references to your GU in the text of Pearse's book. Which is accessible in the Books section in the panel at left.

Hi all,

I read with interest the post in this thread regarding the medals of Claude Leonard Bell - who lived at Jacob's in Sedlescombe (East Sussex).

I have been researching servicemen from Sedlescombe and the neighbouring village of Brede for several years, and would be most grateful to hear if C L Bell's medals are offered for sale in future. I would be interested in acquiring them should the opportunity arise.

Thanks and kind regards,

Phil

Hello

I have recently inherited a QSA medal and Long Service medal from my great uncle William Reid who served as a Trooper with Lumsden's Horse. I would be grateful if anyone could shed any light on his service with them or if there are any information/photographs as I know so little about him.

Many thanks.

Welcome to the Forum.
Tpr. William Reid served with B Coy, No.1 Section of Lumsden's Horse. Pearse's History of LH shows him as being a Tea Planter in civil life; from "Chargola. T.E. Sylhet". Unfortunately, Pearse's work does not have a pic of your GU. You may access Pearse's History of LH in the "books" section of this site. It is quite a good read.

IL.
