I have been in touch with Marcus about these two issues, Re the estimate, Marcus suggested the recent quantity of Boer War material on the market was leading him to provide conservative estimates and setting appropriate expectations for the seller.

I have not noticed any diminution in the prices realised for Boer War medals - has anyone else?

I think that there is a very profound difference between a conservative estimate and a silly one, notwithstanding, I would certainly be delighted to pay the "top end" of it!:woohoo:

The two Talana QSAs went under the hammer at Spink yesterday and sold at hammer prices of £400 (R7,000) and £350 (R6,100), respectively.
