What a pity it's in such a state.

I can't find any WO 97 papers for him online but he was invalided to pension so there's a big file in series PIN 71 at the NA.

David,

Good to know about the PIN file. As you say, just a shame about its condition.

Best wishes

Sir,
Apart from the well-worn disc obverse of Pte Toomey's part-QSA, the lower edge appears thinned ? suggesting renaming - or is this optical illusion??

Good evening David,
It is such a shame to see what was once a fine medal in that state, no doubt its condition will be reflected in the price, again, not one that I'd even consider buying, you have the additional expense of an original Talana clasp to take into account as well!
Regards Frank

absentminded beggar,

It is a little difficule to tell from the obverse picture but I thought the naming looked OK to me. I think it has been much used in its life which is a shame.

Frank,

I agree. It would be a costly exercise to rebuild the medal. Presumably if this is done, the owner would need to find a suspender and clasps to match the condition of the medal?

Best wishes
