Just waiting for my latest addition to arrive, very lucky. I wasn't sure about this group, even though McLachlan is mentioned many times in the book of the 18th Hussars account of Talana, because of the value that the 1st WW MC would attract, but I was pleasantly surprised and will look forward to it.

Doug.

The medals are with Medals4Heroes (not Medals4England). I have handled both pairs and they are very attractive and correct.

1. 4167 Pte W Taylor, 18H. Missing - Released on 4th September 1900 at Schoeman's Kloof. £780

2. 4471 Pte W Denney, 18H. £480.

Thank you Meurig. I have corrected my error.

There are pictures of the naming on the source site. As you say, the medals are as expected.

Best wishes
David

A nice Talana and RoL pair to Private F.C. Smith, RDF.

QSA (6) CC Tal TH OFS RoK Tr (5270 Pte. F. Smith, Rl. Dublin Fus:)
KSA (2) (5270 Pte. F.C. Smith. Rl. Dublin Fus.), contact marks, nearly very fine

5270 Frederick Charles Smith, born Cork, 1879; enlisted in the Royal Dublin Fusiliers, October 1894; served with the Regiment in South Africa from May 1897 to February 1902; discharged, 2.10.1906, after 12 years with the Colours.

It is interesting to note that the lugs of the KSA have been removed but not those of the QSA.
