Hi Mike, I have the same locket, given to a Corpl. Robert Burns of the RCR's. It is exactly the same as yours. I know of one other, to a Canadian Nurse which is now in the Canadian War Museum. Mine is in a frame so I have been unable to see if there is any hall marks re: gold content. The one in the War Museum is supposedly good filled. Anyway a beautiful locket, and still rare.
Dale.

Hi Mike, sadly I do not have the certificate, until yesterday I did not know they existed. As you can see I can't easily get at my locked, is there a gold karat stamp in the locket?
Dale.

Hi Dale...…

Good morning..... I got your PM's...… I went and had a look again at my locket and inside there is a ring that would hold a picture in place..... I have never taken the ring out though I should have and on the ring I found the name of the maker on the back of the ring ???? "ROSENTHAL" Maybe you can find some city directories from the turn of the century and see where they were located and how long they were in business..... Thinking about it maybe it was folded into the Birk's and Sons empire.....

Good morning all. The presentation of these lockets was reported in the Winnipeg Free Press of 7 Nov 1900. They were presented during a ceremony in the Aberdeen Pavilion, Lansdowne Park, Ottawa, on 5 Nov 1900.
