Possibly, I would have to check volume 301 for you.

Is this the only page for Gen Elliots Int Scouts. Is this the whole unit.

Kind regards

Dear Frank

So I consider that the 1st QSA is one of these issued to Elliots Int Corp. Its just missing a few bars.

Nice unit - I wonder if anyone knows what they did?

Interesting that that men like Clifford seemed to have a desire for adventure during this time. This type of man wins a bravery medal. But I sure that being in these strange small units there must have been many brave events that went unrecognised.

Kind regards

Munroe

PS - thank you for helping on all these obscure groups that I show on the forum.

I had hoped to see him crossed out on at least two other pages in volume 301, but, he is not, I had expected to find him on the Natal Corps of Guides roll, but, again no, only a WJ Clifford, perhaps a relative, still a very fine group, he was 2319 TMI and 47 LTG.
The Imperial Guides became the Corps of Natal Guides/Natal Imperial Guides and had he stayed with them, I would expect him to be on their roll.

Dear All

Another interesting combination that appears quite normal at first

QSA - CC OFS - Guide J Cohen FID
Mercantile Marine medal - J C Cohen
British war Medal - J C Cohen

The interesting fact about this is the WW1 medals. Note the single initials. This variation is the South African issue. In the SA defence archives there are award cards for these medals. These medals are named with the South African style letters. The award card is interesting as they cross out VM and write over it MM. There are very few of these around and are have been completely overlooked by most collectors.

Kind regards

Munroe

Munroe,

That's a great combination. I recall that the records for the Mercantile Marine in the National Archives sometimes contains pictures of the mes so it is well worth a look.

Best wishes
