I need to look through my papers but from memory the RHS medal was for saving a "native scout" from drowning in a river.

He has at least four entries in WO100, maybe another too, 301 and 354 FID QSA and KSA pages 71 and 90 respectively also WO100/283 page 122, the Ladysmith Town Guard roll as number 47, WO100/277 page 19 is the TMI roll, I'll have to check 301 page 71, Elliots Intelligence roll as the available folio is a "covered" one.

WO100/277 page 19 that you refer to in the TMI roll, it confirms "Imperial" (Natal Imperial) Guides.

Okay, the original page 71 confirms service with Thornycroft's MI and shows five clasps i.e Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal, Defence of Ladysmith and Laings Nek.
