BainesLancelot Oswald TalbotLieutenantHe died from enteric at Heilbron March 4th, 1902. He was the fourth son of L T  Baines of Bawtry, Yorkshire, was born July 1877, and educated at Cheltenham.  He joined the East Lancashire Regiment in May 1900, from the 3rd Battalion York and Lancaster Regiment (3rd West York Militia), then embodied and in Ireland, and was promoted Lieutenant October 1901.  He served in South Africa during 1900, being invalided home in 1901.  On recovering he returned in December 1901, and served in the ORC up to his death.  His name was inscribed on the Eleanor Cross War Memorial at Cheltenham College.
